Welcome to The Ottawa Anaphylaxis Support Group website.  I am very excited with the amount of interest there has been for creating this group.  There are already over 50 members in the group and hopefully many more to come.  The Facebook page is up and running and updated regularly with articles, resources and helpful tips.  Please feel free to post on the Facebook page and provide comments.  Be sure to check the Facebook page is not the old OASG page, the new one has a picture of the parliament buildings and is updated.  The first meeting will require a bit of time to do introductions and discuss the goals of the meetings and how we will achieve them.  I will be asking people to volunteer to do small tasks throughout the year and will need committee members to assist with running the group.  As well I thought it would be nice to have a small presentation on a topic of interest such as; travelling with allergies, developing/implementing an anaphylaxis plan with your school, talking to your child about anaphylaxis at different ages/stages.  We will also discuss future meetings and guest speakers, and topics of interest.  I will prepare a meeting agenda by the end of February and look for suggestions and comments. Thank you to everyone who has joined on.  I hope we can make this group what it once was.

"developing/implementing an anaphylaxis plan with your school, talking to your child about anaphylaxis at different ages/stages"

Clearly your focus is parents of children suffering from anaphylaxis. This seems to be the focus of almost all groups, and support.

Do you have any members who are adults, who deal with their own anaphylaxis, who are not dependent and represented by a parent or other adult?

I have anaphylaxis and I am not a child, I am responsible for my own well being, the schools are not what I have to deal with.

Perhaps you could direct me to people who have lived through childhood to adulthood with anaphylaxis, or acquired it as an adult, and are interested in sharing and mutual support dealing with the issues of taking adult repsonsibility for one's own survival.

Thank you for your comment. Our goal as a group is to assist all individuals with anaphylaxis. We are in the early stages and hoping to create sub groups of individuals within the group. We have other members who are adults with allergies. I will post a request for those who are adults with allergies on the Facebook page and send a mass email to the group to find other adults who have anaphylaxis. Sorry if this reply is late, I did not receive a notification.
